Finally witnessing the magic that is Lucius in person. Holy shit! @ilovelucius I really do! (at Bowery Ballroom)
i don’t know if anyone remembers that a few weeks ago when i spotted natalie dormer getting out of a cab near rockwood?? well, she was at the hop hanging out after like what the actual fuck. so random and was that a coincidence? last year was mariska hargitay, which was much more thrilling for me though.
*edit: starting to convince myself it may not have been her. I’m usually really good at celeb spotting when i’ve seen that person in something, but I’ve only ever seen her in pictures. maybe she’s just some singer-songwriter i don’t know that looks like her. idk.
also i’m pretty sure i can forgive sara for not being there tonight since she was busy performing at an event and being nominated for A GRAMMY FOR ALBUM OF THE FUCKING YEAR. how amazing and well deserved. yeah!!!! also her birthday is currently happening. whoa!
ahhh the holiday hop. it’s such a lovely tradition and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. i hope it continues as a tradish until ingrid, allie, bess, chris, saul, and elliot are as old as edna, edith, ethel and their husbands ;)
but really how i love it so much. tonight was different than past hops for many reasons. it’s a good/weird/necessary transition. tonight was almost more meaningful. having my sister here, but also friends that i love dearly that I’ve gotten to know better or met while here to share it with. deep down, ingrid and crew just mean so much to us. most of us wouldn’t know each other if it wasn’t for this music/these people. at the same time i was also missing a lot of people that couldn’t be there.
traditions were mostly all in place and some of my favorite people were there in many forms. i love seeing hannah and lelia on the stage a couple times singing some backgrounds that sounded lovely on some new songs (swoon). oiya string bikinis, winter song (sans sara b- going to have to tell her i’m mad at her for that), men of snow, the chain, chris on bass for have yourself a merry little christmas (which i almost missed but totally melted my heart as per usual), group singing “you and I” and everything else…..etc, etc. I will say, I did miss greg opening, but storyman was great.
it was fun to get drunk and see all my loves and really celebrate and remember what I love about this crew + hug on them all and tell them how much i love them!
cheers to a lovely night.
ugh I still have these holiday hop tickets. msg me if you want em.
